I love experimenting with different materials and this one is painted onto a small sheet of copper. The back of an old etching plate I think. The copper has a wonderfull warm quality that glows through the paint.
I was quite pleased with this painting. It has a warm human quality about it similar in feel perhaps, to the famous self portrait of Rembrandt as an old man smiling through the paint. One of the few self portraits I have painted and would happily show my mother.
