I had got myself a town studio above a real estate agent on Devon Street. Also this was about the time I was starting to meet and socialise with
more artists. We had formed Taranaki Artists' Co-operative - TACO and we arranged many exhibitions and a mini arts festival in NP called Renonsense. I think my new found confidence is reflected in this SP. It concentrates just on my face and was painted using two mirrors, one reflecting in the other so I see myself from another point of view. I am looking outwards. I was trying to establish myself on the NZ art scene a bit more and entered lots of competitions. This was awarded a prize by William Sutton. My father was impressed. I could paint faces. |
